When plugged in properly, you will see an automatic prompt like found new hardware etc. Click on the Start menu and browse to Devices and Printers under Control Panel. When in the Devices & Printers window, click the Add a Printer link. When prompted, click to choose add a local printer option and then hit Next to proceed.

When prompted to choose the manufacturer brand, choose Hewlett Packard. Afterwards, click to choose the model or your printer and hit the Next button. When prompted, enter a name for your HP printer. You can give any desired name to your computer. It is only required for you to recognize your printer when you connect to it to do the print job. If you want to share your HP printer on a network, select the option and follow rest of the instructions.

If you don't want to share the printer, then select the desired option and hit the Next button. If you want to set your printer to a default one, select the option and hit Next. Afterwards, hit the Finish button to finish establishing the connection. When done, close all the windows and reboot your computer. If you want a printer shortcut on your desktop, browse to the Devices & Printers section, select the HP printer, right click on it and choose Create a shortcut.

Exit all the windows. You will now see a printer icon on your desktop. Double-click on the icon to open it and start the printing job. If you want to customize the printing job, right click on the HP printer icon and select Properties from the drop-down options.

Disadvantages of a Laser Printer

There are very few disadvantages to owning a laser printer in general but one of them is definitely the cost. The money that you could spend on a very high-end inkjet printer will only buy you a very low-end color laser printer with limited capacities. Color laser printers with multi-functions such as a copier and a fax all in one are even more expensive. However a middle of the line black and white laser printer is comparable to the price of a top of the line color inkjet printer.

The fuser inside them, which is the device that melts the plastic granules that constitute the powder that makes up the toner onto the paper, heats up to as high as 200 degrees Celsius.

Another limitation of a laser printer is that they only really print on certain kinds of paper. If you want to print out photographs then a laser printer is not for you as they are not yet capable of printing high-resolution images. Also you cannot put photographic paper through a laser printer. For the best quality images you need to buy a bubble jet ink printer that can transfer an image onto photographic paper. The color quality that you get with a bubble jet ink printer is just as good if not better than the color quality that you can obtain with a laser printer. Another disadvantage of laser printers is that many of them are limited by the amount of memory that they are sold with. This can sometimes limit the number of fonts that you can use. This is the only reliable way to install memory so that the color laser printer can utilize a number of fonts.

The more expensive a laser printer is the faster it is. The affordable models only print out about four pages a minute. Top end models print out about twelve pages a minute but they are not really affordable for the individual.

Laser printers, especially the color laser printers, can also be heavy and take up a lot of desk space or room in the office. At the time of writing there was also no such thing as a portable laser printer. The reason that a portable laser printer has yet to be invented is because a battery does not yet exist that is small enough to provide laser printer functions with enough power so that it can be taken on the road.

How can I install a Network printer in Windows 7? A few days ago, I installed a Windows 7 7246 x86 operating system for my PC. After that I tried to add a network printer which had already connected to another Windows XP machine. I tried it several times but all my efforts failed and my Windows 7 PC could not share this HP Laser Jet 5100 Le printer with the Windows XP PC.

I was unable to open the setup program I installed from the driver setup disk because the system prompted that it had an unknown error. Since I could not install this driver, I copied its INF files from the disk and then began to add a network printer. Though my PC could automatically find out this device and install the driver, it was still unable to perform the connection. Then I downloaded and installed its official Windows Vista driver form the website, but the error went on. I tried some of the HP printer's universal drivers, but they still didn't work. Finally, I found the solution.

Here is my solution:

Step 1 Go to Start - Devices and Printers.

Step 2 Select Add a printer and then add a local printer.

Step 3 Select the item called Choose a printer port - Create a new port - local port.

Step 4 Behind Enter a port name input the IP address and the name of your network printer, for example, 192.168.1.10HplaserJ.2 or mypcprinter. Then click Next.

Step 5 You can select either Windows update or Hard disk to install printer driver. If you choose Windows update, Windows will install a driver for you automatically; if you choose Hard disk, insert the setup disk and follow its wizard to finish the installation.

Using inkjet printer cleaning cartridges on a regular basis can prolong the life of your inkjet printer's printhead and provide consistently better print quality.

How do you understand if your print head is clogged? Here are some signs that indicate a clogged print head problem:

If white lines occur when printing,
If faintness or broken lines occur in the nozzle check pattern,
If ink doesn't come out while you are printing,
If the printer is being used again after a long period of time for the first time,
If you are having to perform a printhead cleaning cycle more often than usual (one or two times),

If your inkjet printer print-head is clogged, then you can follow these steps.

1. Install the cleaning cartridge with the same method of replacing cartridge.
2. Execute head cleaning and nozzle check procedures. If print quality is still poor, clean the print head again. This method is not suitable for cleaning deteriorated and damaged print head.

If your ink cartridge nozzles are clogged (not the print-head), then follow these steps instead:

1. Rest the clogged nozzles in warm water and then soak them until the dried ink begins to flow from the nozzle.
2. After a couple minutes, take the nozzles out of the water and dry it with a soft tissue
3. Reinstall the printer cartridge and run the print-head cleaning mechanism
4. If this does not work, repeat the process.
5. If your cartridge still does not print after repeating, uninstall the cartridge and place it on a soft tissue or cotton swab with rubbing alcohol in an upside down position. Let the cartridge sit on it for the night.
6. Reinstall the cartridge and run the print-head cleaning mechanism

Your ink cartridge nozzles could also be blocked with dried ink. If your cartridge has waited outside for more than a few of days, it is likely that they are clogged.

There have been several models of the Samsung Laser Printer released into the market. However, many of them seem to pose various degrees of problems. Here are some of the common error codes along with tips on troubleshooting:

Error message: Scanning error

This error message is essentially a hardware error. You could try to replace the USB cable. Sometimes poor quality cables cannot transmit the large data needed by a scanner.

Error message: paper jam

This happens when the paper has got stuck in your Samsung Laser Printer. You need to check the sensor located beside exit rollers. Maybe it is in incorrect position, or is damaged. If nothing works, try replacing it with a new sensor.

Error message: square prints

Sometimes you may experience that your Samsung Laser Printer is printing out squares instead of regular text. It can happen if you are using Firefox or printing content from sites which do not recognize the font used in the text. To fix this problem you will need to reinstall all relevant drivers. Error: Toner light still on

After replacement of the toner cartridge you might still find the toner light switched on continually. You need to check on the fuse located on the front side of the cartridge. You could try replacing this with a 50 mp one. This error usually occurs in the Samsung SCX-4216F.

Error code: 24

This error code indicates that there is too much overload as far as the print job is concerned. You can select the button called 'continue' and then try reducing the amount of print job.

Error code: 50

This indicates a malfunction in the fuser. It means the fuser is not heating up. Try switching off your Samsung Laser Printer or resetting the printer for around 15 minutes and then switch it on again. In case this does not solve the problem, it could indicate a fault in the fuser assembly or in the AC power.

Error code: 16

This error code means that the toner is low. That means the distribution of the toner inside the cartridge is inadequate. You need to take out the cartridge and move it back and front gently. If this does not work try replacing the cartridge. You could also try cleaning up the contacts.
